Current art and design thinking and practice, exploit and utilise images
which create visual ‘pastiches’ as a means of communicating ideas. A new sense
of order has evolved resulting in movements away from the machine to the information age.
It has a “factual dimension” as its construct, which reflects many aspects of my
work where technology is instrumental in the design process. Conventional wisdom is being
questioned and consequently a new language is being formed in the visual arts. Lines of
communication are becoming more complex and inter-connected. This necessitates the need to
de-code these emerging messages, in ways which differ from the accepted interpretations of
